Whether someone's choosing a pair of shoes, a shirt, or a new hair colour, what they think they want isn't always what
actually works for them. The shade that caught their eye online might clash with their complexion.
The cut they fell in love with on Instagram might fight their face shape. The style they're convinced is
them might undermine everything that actually is.
Hairdressing is no different — except the stakes are higher, because you can't return a haircut.
And yet, many clients walk in expecting exactly what they asked for. No questions, no pushback, no professional input.

Plenty of hairdressers do exactly that.

4. NDIS does not fund hair services
To be clear: the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) does not cover or reimburse personal hair services of any kind.
5. A quality haircut takes time
A professional scissor cut typically takes 30–60 minutes, depending on hair length, thickness, and style.
That time includes consultation, set-up, and clean-up — all part of the service.
6. Mobile professionals see fewer clients per day
Travel time between appointments limits how many clients a mobile provider can serve daily.
This directly affects earning capacity and is reflected in how services are priced.
7. Mobile pricing is often on par with salons — or slightly more
Salons frequently have junior staff or apprentices assisting with services.
Mobile providers work solo, offering undivided, senior-level attention.
That's a meaningful difference in the quality of experience.
8. Operating costs are higher than they appear
Vehicle maintenance, insurance, fuel, travel time, tolls, and product inventory — including colour, treatments, and specialist
products — all add up.
Mobile professionals carry and maintain their full kit on the road, just as a salon maintains its floor.
